Jesus Is The "Lamb Of God" Who Redeems Us From Sin!

One day John saw Jesus coming to him and John said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:28-29). He said this in Bethabara (Bethany) beyond Jordan where he was baptizing.

Abel offered the firstlings (the lambs) of his flock as an acceptable sacrifice before God (Genesis 4:2, 4). All the congregation of Israel was to use the lamb for the feast of the Passover (Exodus 12:3-17). Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, saying, "For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us" (1 Corinthians 5:7). After seeing Jesus and declaring Him to be the Lamb of God, John said "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove (when Jesus was baptized according to Matthew 3:16-17) and it abode upon Him . . . And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God" (John 1:29-34). Paul wrote that God purchased the church with His own blood (Acts 20:28). Apostle Peter wrote that we are redeemed "with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" (1 Peter 1:19). Let us appreciate John's exclaiming when he saw Jesus, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!" The words help to make believers, today.

One Of John's Disciples Followed Jesus Immediately

"Again, the next day after, John stood, and two of his disciples; and looking on Jesus as He walked, he saith, 'Behold the Lamb of God!' "And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus" (John 1:35-37). At least one of these two disciples of John became a permanent follower of the Lord. He was Andrew, the son of Jona. Andrew was certainly to be commended for following the Lord Jesus as soon as he learned about Him. Felix waited for a 'convenient season' (Acts 24:25).
