God Let The Good People Know What Was Happening To Them!

While Mary and Joseph were still in Nazareth of Galilee, God sent Angel Gabriel to tell her, "Thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women" (Luke 1:26-28). "Thou shalt, . . . bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name JESUS" (Luke 1:31). Not only was she highly favored of God and called "blessed" by Gabriel, but those near her were of good reputation. Mary went to see her cousin Elisabeth, who was then well-stricken in years, although six months along with her baby who was to be named John. Gabriel had told her husband, Zacharias, that John should be "great in the sight of the Lord". Zacharias and Elisabeth were fine people for they "were both righteous before God" (Luke 1:5-6, Luke 1:15-18). Elisabeth was really pleased that Mary came to stay with her about three months. She said to Mary, "Blessed art thou among women, . . . And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" (Luke 1:42-43, 56). So, Elisabeth had been told that Mary was to have a child! He who was nearest and dearest to Mary was Joseph, "a just man." He "did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called His name JESUS" (Matthew 1:19, 24-25). Also Christians, good people, are blessed; for God has "given unto us exceeding great and precious promises" (2 Peter 1:2-8). The Lord keeps righteous people well enough informed of what He will do!
