Many Religious Groups Have Yielded To Temptations!

"Man shall not live by bread alone"; "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God"; and "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve" are often ignored by religious groups although they are "written" in Matthew 4:4, 7 & 10

They advertise their suppers, fellowship dinners and banquets as if men did live by bread alone. They seem to preach everything except the word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. They take responsibility for feeding people for a donation when they should act on their responsibility to "preach the Gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

Religious people are yielding to the temptation of casting themselves down, tempting or making trial of God expecting Him to pick them up and carry on their projects for them. "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" (Matthew 4:6-7). They do wrong in putting on radio or television broadcasts they are unable to finance out of what the Lord has prospered them. They build institutions for education and care of children, old folks or the sick without first counting the cost or being willing to pay for it.

When satan offers them "the kingdoms of the world" (Matthew 4:8-10), they want to take the world 'for Christ' in our generation and accept the glory for doing so. They do not worship God only and serve Him in humility, giving a cup of cold water in Christ's name (Mark 9:41), or honor the widow who gives more with two mites than the rich who give of their abundance (Mark 12:41-44). No wonder, like the scribes and Pharisees, they get in trouble "teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matthew 15:9)!
