Where Would You Expect To Find Jesus If You Lost Him?

Joseph and our Lord's mother were returning to Nazareth from the Passover Feast in Jerusalem when Jesus was twelve years old. They discovered that He was not with them. By this time He had grown, waxed strong, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40-52). Surely they would find Him among their kinsfolk or acquaintances. The whole company of them had left Jerusalem that morning and traveled all day long. When He was not to be found among relatives and friends, Joseph and Mary returned to Jerusalem and looked for Him another day before they found Him in the temple. He was "sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. All that heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers" (Luke 2:46-47). Joseph and Mary were amazed too when they saw Him there. Where are we expecting to find Jesus the Lord? Are we looking for Him among our relatives? Shall we find Him in the teaching of a mother? Or are we to find Him in conversation with friends? It would be best to go back to Jerusalem, to the Bible!

Let us go with Mary and Joseph back to Jerusalem. We will be amazed at His understanding and answers when we find Jesus in His Father's house. Then our sorrowing for Him will end as we read about Him throughout the New Testament of the Bible.
