Zacharias Prophesied Good Concerning His Son, John!

John's father was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, "And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways; to give knowledge of salvation unto His people by the remission of their sins, . . ." (Luke 1:67, 76-77).

And that is exactly what John did. Preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, John cried out in the wilderness, "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 3:1-2).

He warned the multitude wanting to be baptized, "Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance" (Luke 3:3, 8).

There was good reason for the old priest and his age stricken wife to have joy and gladness in John, their son!
