SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE
(Ephesians 4:15)

The greatest of all truths is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10).  The Apostle Peter's words in Acts 4:12 tell us "there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

The Lord gave the great commission in Mark 16:15-16 to "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."  Christ by His death on the cross, as the sacrifice for our sins, has made the way to deliver souls from eternal separation from God and given us the promise of eternal life and victory over death (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

These great truths and promises have been carefully recorded and taught xvfrom generation to generation.  All nations, all peoples of the earth have the right to hear the 'good news,' the gospel.  For God is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

There is to be the day of judgment for every soul (Matthew 25:31-46).  There will come an end to this known world (2 Peter 3:10-12).  After death there is the judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

Crimes, terrible crimes continue daily, and some by our very young.  When these terrible things happen involving young children, we ask "How can this be?  Surely they have been taught right from wrong!"

Child psychologists write to say "All children lie and tell 'tall tales' to get attention."  They suggest to just ignore such.  Some children grow into adulthood as liars.  What then?  To speak truth prepares one for accepting responsibility for one's actions.

Judges 2:10 states, "there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord."  Why?  The answer:  They were not taught the Way of the Lord.

Lying is just one of many crimes.  Truth requires a first acceptance of responsibility and is character building.  Lying is hated by God and man (Proverbs 6:16-17 and Psalms 119:163).  Liars have their place in eternity in a lake of fire (Revelation 21:8; Revelation 22:15).  Jesus tells us the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44).

As Christians, we have the commandment to carry the gospel into all the world.  As parents and grandparents, we must bring up our children "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4).

Let's begin with our own children for very soon it will be their turn to obey God and to carry the gospel in their generation to a lost and dying world.

"Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right" (Proverbs 20:11).

Ephesians 4:25 tells us to put "away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour."
